What are they?
These are commonly referred to as "BOTOX" which is an abbreviation of Botulinum Toxin Type A. This is a natural occurring bacterial protein.
Tell me more....
Azzalure is a brand name for a purified formulation of Botulinum Toxin Type A, and is licensed for cosmetic use in the UK. IT MUST be prescribed, after consultation, by a qualified healthcare profession IE. A Doctor, a dentist or a nurse prescriber.
Is it Safe?
Azzalure (BOTOX) has been used in the UK cosmetically for over 15 years, and has been used to treat certain medical conditions, e.g. multiple sclerosis, strabismus (crossed eyes or squints) and hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) for many years more.
What is involved?
Tiny doses of Azzalure (BOTOX) are injected just beneath the skin into the muscles, in order to specifically block the nerve impulses, thereby restricting the contract of the muscle, which allows relaxation of the overlying skin. Other nerve functions e.g. sense of 'touch' are NOT affected.
The procedure causes minimal discomfort. The initial effect of Azzalure treatment will begin to appear within the first week after the injection, and usually lasts for about 3-4 months, sometimes more.
The treatment session will last around 15 minutes and you can return to your daily activities immediately afterwards.
In addition to anti-wrinkle injections and the treatment of excessive sweating, Azzalure (BOTOX) therapy can address a plethora of other concerns including:
Bunny lines (Nasalis)
Nerfetiti neck lift
Platysmal necks bands (turkey neck)
Ala (nostril) flaring
Masseteric hypertrophy (Jaw muscle retention) - effective for those who grind their teeth. This gives a tapered slimming effect to the face, and negates the need to wear a bite raising appliance (for brutism).
