Need some tips to keep your skin sparkling in between treatments?

1. Give up the cigarettes

No smoking

Experts agree that smoking accelerates aging, so that smokers look 1.4 years older than nonsmokers, on average.

Why the wrinkly face? Smoking hampers the blood supply that keeps skin tissue looking supple and healthy.

If you smoke, you’re four times as likely as nonsmokers to report feeling unrested after a night’s sleep, according to Johns Hopkins study, hello bags under the eyes!

2. Wash your face

Regular facial cleansing (along with the use of a good moisturiser) is also an important factor in helping the skin maintain a proper level of hydration. Dehydrated skin looks and feels rough, wrinkled and aged. Cleansing helps manage PH levels of the skin; enabling sufficient water and product retention.

3. Restrict Sun exposure

The World Health Organization’s report called “Sun Protection: A Primary Teaching Resource” discusses that “Chronic overexposure to the sun can change the texture and weaken the elasticity of the skin. Sun induced skin damage causes premature wrinkling, sags and bags, and easy bruising. Up to 90% of the visible changes commonly attributed to ageing may be caused by sun exposure.”

4. Drink plenty of water

Water is essential to maintain the optimum skin moisture and deliver essential nutrients to the skin cells. It replenishes the skin tissue and increases its elasticity. This helps delay the appearance of signs of ageing like wrinkles and fine lines.

5. Eat well, look well, feel well

The food you eat—from wrinkle-fighting antioxidants in fruits and vegetables to hydrating healthy fats in fish—may matter to your skin almost as much as it does to your waistline.

6. Don't stress out

Scientists have found that stress is by far the over-riding factor when it comes to the rate at which we grow older. In 2004, scientists started to study telomeres, which are the tips of strands of DNA rather like the tips on the end of a shoelace.

Telomeres stop DNA from fraying. When it frays, the cell stops being healthy: if it is a skin cell, it will cease to function properly and will appear aged. If the DNA frays in a brain cell, memory will lapse.

What sets telomeres off? You got it...stress! So take a deep breath and count to ten, it is really worth the extra wrinkles?
